Description

Ingredients

  • 2 pre-made pie crusts
  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Milk or beaten egg, for brushing pastry

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out one pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish.
  3. In a bowl, toss the blackberries with sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice until well mixed.
  4. Pour the blackberry mixture into the pie crust and dot the top with pieces of butter.
  5. Cut the remaining pie crust into strips and arrange them on top to create a lattice pattern.
  6. Brush the lattice crust with a little milk or beaten egg for a golden finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.

Notes

Serve warm, with ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2 days, or refrigerate for a week. Freeze wrapped well for longer storage.
