- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced
- 8 ounces brown mushrooms, minced
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 cup beef broth
- 8 ounces Provolone Cheese Slices, chopped
- 6 brioche hamburger buns
Instructions
- Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned before breaking it apart.
- Continue cooking until about 50% of the beef has a crust, then remove from skillet.
- Add butter, diced onions, bell peppers, and minced mushrooms to the skillet; brown for 1-2 minutes.
- Stir the vegetables and brown for another 1-2 minutes.
- Return the beef to the skillet with vegetables.
- Whisk together beef broth and cornstarch, then pour into the skillet.
- Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper; stir to combine.
- Cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Turn off heat and stir in chopped Provolone cheese until melted.
- Serve on toasted brioche buns.
Notes
Use lean ground beef to avoid greasy sliders. Brown the vegetables well for added flavor.
