Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix together the flour and baking soda in a bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well, and then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the flour mixture with the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Scoop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For chewier cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container for up to one week.
