Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 3/4 cups cake flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup cultured buttermilk
  • 2 cups diced peaches, skin on
  • 1 tsp coarse sparkling sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly butter a 9×5 loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a stand mixer, cream the brown sugar and butter together until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and spices.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the stand mixer, alternating with the buttermilk.
  6. Gently fold in diced peaches into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the top with coarse sparkling sugar.
  8. Bake for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature, perfect with coffee or tea. Wrap tightly for storage.
