Description

Delicious and addictive cheese balls filled with cream cheese, cheddar, and jalapeños, coated in spiced breadcrumbs and fried to golden perfection.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced jalapeños, fresh or pickled
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, jalapeños, cilantro, garlic powder, and onion powder until well blended.
  2. Form the mixture into balls about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with chili powder and paprika.
  4. Dredge each ball in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry cheese balls in batches for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For more flavor, use pickled jalapeños or a sharper cheddar cheese. Can be made ahead and frozen.
