Ingredients
  

For the Brownie Layer:

  • ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder

For the Cookie Layer:

  • ½ cup 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the brownie batter: In a bowl, mix melted butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, whisking until smooth. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Mix until combined. Pour into the pan and spread evenly.
  • Prepare the cookie dough: In another bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix in the egg and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt, then fold in chocolate chips.
  • Layer the cookie dough on top of the brownie batter in small dollops, spreading gently.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely before slicing into bars. Enjoy!
