- 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend
- 1 medium yellow onion thinly sliced
- 8 slices rye bread
- 8 slices Swiss cheese or cheddar
- 4 tablespoons butter softened
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Thousand Island dressing for spreading
Caramelize the onions: In a skillet over medium heat, cook sliced onions in 1 tablespoon of butter until soft and golden brown, about 8 minutes.
