Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup Reese's milk chocolate chips or Reese's chocolate pumpkins
  • Orange food coloring optional for drizzling

Instructions

Prepare Your Workspace:

  • Gather all your ingredients and tools: a medium mixing bowl, measuring cups, a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and a spoon or spatula.

Make the Peanut Butter Mixture:

  • In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of creamy peanut butter, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and 1/4 cup of softened unsalted butter.
  • Mix the ingredients together until they form a smooth and creamy mixture. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

Shape the Pumpkins:

  • Once your peanut butter mixture is ready, use your hands to scoop out small portions (about 1 tablespoon each).
  • Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it slightly to form a pumpkin shape. You can also pinch the top to create a little stem.

Chill the Pumpkin Shapes:

  • Place the shaped pumpkins on your parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate the pumpkins for about 15-20 minutes to firm them up.

Melt the Chocolate:

  • While the pumpkins are chilling, melt 1 cup of Reese's milk chocolate chips (or Reese's chocolate pumpkins) using a microwave or double boiler.
  • If using a microwave, heat the chocolate in short bursts of 20-30 seconds, stirring in between, until completely melted and smooth.
  • If using a double boiler, place the chocolate in the top bowl and stir frequently until melted.

Dip the Pumpkins in Chocolate:

  • Remove the chilled peanut butter pumpkins from the refrigerator.
  • Using a fork or a skewer, dip each pumpkin into the melted chocolate, making sure to coat it completely.
  • Allow any excess chocolate to drip off before placing the coated pumpkin back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.

Decorate (Optional):

  • If desired, mix a little orange food coloring into any leftover melted chocolate and drizzle it over the coated pumpkins for a festive touch.

Chill Again:

  • Once all the pumpkins are coated, return the baking sheet to the refrigerator and chill for an additional 30 minutes to let the chocolate set.

Serve and Enjoy:

  • After the chocolate has hardened, your Reese's Peanut Butter Pumpkins are ready to enjoy! Serve them at room temperature, and savor the delicious combination of peanut butter and chocolate.
